Many of us in Europe feel that we are on the verge of being swept away by  an unstoppable tide of liberalism. Otherwise known as the progressive movement, or as I like to coin it the regressive movement.  Regressive because we are regressing to a time in our history where individual freedoms had not been attained and totalitarian systems of government were commonplace.

Western civilisation has its foundations in Greek and Judeo-Christian values and these values have guided the development of our civilisation.  Our culture and the freedoms we enjoy all stem from these bedrock beliefs and values.  Many of us are no longer actively committed to the Judeo-Christian world and life view (I for one am committed to it being and evangelical Christian) yet we live in a society that was moulded by these ideas, and because of them, lead the world in freedom and individual rights.

Growing contempt for the Judeo-Christian foundations of Western Civilisation

Christianity may not be the force it once was in Western Civilisation but it is embedded in our psyche.  No matter what we think about our cultural heritage it is part of who we are.  Many seek to repudiate this aspect of Western Civilisation and one of the central pillars of our civilisation is that you are free to do so.  Yet another pillar of our civilisation is that we have freedom of religion and we are free to have a religion (including Christianity) or not.  This is one of the things that makes Western Civilisation the greatest civilisation the world has ever seen.

One of the issues that we have to deal with is politicians that use our Christian faith as a means to gain power for themselves.    One such person Is Hillary Clinton.  In this video she discusses abortion and is very clear that an unborn child, right up until it leaves the womb, has no constitutional rights (including the right to life).  This is what makes her such a strong supporter of organisations such as Planned Parenthood.

What is quite chilling for me as a father and a human being is the cheering of the audience when Hillary Clinton affirmed her position on the killing of innocent children.  This is one of the most chilling sounds I have heard in my whole life.  I have worked in Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia and Sudan and witnessed the aftermath of wars and natural disasters like the South East Asian tsunami of December 2004, and have never been so dismayed at hearing peoples’ reactions to the death of millions of children.

At 3.19 Clinton is asked what she has to say to evangelical Christians (after her declaring the support of killing of millions of children) and she declares that she is a Christian.  Here we see a politician using a claim to faith in Christ as a means to get peoples’ votes.  What is amazing is the fact that any Christian could take this seriously and ever consider voting for someone that obviously cares more about her liberal views than a so called faith in Christ.  Like her false concern for minorities, her `faith’ is nothing more than a political tool to advance the goals of Hillary Clinton and her political career.

Clinton’s real contempt for Christianity is reflected by her closest aids.  This is because she has surrounded herself with men and women that reflect her world and life view (as we all do).  Wikileaks has illustrated to us that Jennifer Palmieri and John Podestam hold both Catholics and evangelicals in total contempt (with evangelicals coming off worst).

Sean Hannity describes the e-mails:

The 2011 email, entitled “Conservative Catholicism”, comes from John Halpin, a senior fellow at the left-wing Center for American Progress (CAP), and is addressed to Jennifer Palmieri, formerly of the CAP and current Director of Communications for the 2016 Hillary Clinton presidential campaign, and John Podesta. The email, in which traditional Catholic beliefs are derided as “backwards”, drips with contempt for Catholic Americans.

“Many of the most powerful elements of the conservative movement are all Catholic (many converts) from the SC and think tanks to the media and social groups,” Halpin writes to Podesta. “They must be attracted to the systematic thought and severely backwards gender relations and must be totally unaware of Christian democracy.”

Palmieri piles onto the Catholic bashing in her response.

“I imagine they think it is the most socially acceptable politically conservative religion,” Palmieri writes. “Their rich friends wouldn’t understand if they became evangelicals.”

The above gives Christians a look at what Clinton and her supporters really think of our Christian heritage.  We are living in a historical bubble and devoid of an understanding, or commitment to, where Western Civilisation is at at the moment and `totally unaware of Christian democracy’.  As an Ulster Scot this statement shows the total ignorance of the history of the USA and especially the Founding Fathers.  It was Christian democratic belief and practice that helped found the USA.  In my piece US democracy, the Ulster Scot and lessons from our forefathers  I deal with Christian (Presbyterian) democratic thought and practice and how this fueled the American Revolution against the British.

What Should Americans Be Talking About?
